Professional growth can’t be one-size-fits-all in today’s remote and hybrid workplaces. At Nuffer, Smith, Tucker (NST), learning is a living part of our culture–one that is driven by our people, our values and the dynamic world we work in. Growth isn’t just recommended here; it’s ingrained into how we work together, take risks, and strive for improvement. As an intern in this environment, I’ve witnessed NST’s dedication to growth firsthand and can say that it is robust, adaptable and genuine—in-person and virtually.
What is NST’s Learning and Teaching Philosophy?
NST’s learning and teaching philosophy is a statement of our belief in perpetual growth, inclusivity and curiosity-driven evolution. Based on NST’s core values, which include constant exploration, being candid and kind, seeking diverse perspectives and taking ownership, the philosophy is not just a list of ideals—it’s a living commitment. As an intern or senior leader, NST ensures everyone has the tools, support and opportunities to learn, grow and advance continuously.
How NST’s Learning Manifesto Has Evolved in a Hybrid World
At NST, adapting our learning and teaching philosophy for a hybrid environment meant rethinking how we stay connected, curious and committed to growth—even when we’re not always in the same room. Flexibility is a core part of that approach, but human connection remains central. Regular one-on-one meetings, open-door policies (even virtually) and collaborative project work keep conversations flowing and ideas growing. Feedback isn’t just reserved for formal reviews—it’s part of the daily rhythm, helping interns and team members learn in-person and virtually.
NST’s leadership team is also a big proponent of learning by doing. As an intern, I’ve had the opportunity to take real ownership of projects, stretch my skills, and receive candid feedback that pushes me to continue improving. It’s not just about attending training sessions—it’s about applying what you learn in real time, experimenting, and growing through experience. During my time here, I’ve had the chance to build media lists, draft and schedule social media posts, contribute to paid media presentation decks, and write press releases. Each project came with clear guidance and honest feedback, which helped me build confidence and understand how strategy turns into execution. It’s not just about watching others work — it’s about getting involved, trying things out and learning as you go.
At NST, professional development isn’t a box to check—it’s a daily mindset. In the age of flexible work opportunities, NST’s learning and teaching philosophy continually evolves to keep growth personal, achievable, and relevant. As an intern, it has been an empowering experience to live and breathe this culture, where learning isn’t just something we do, but part of who we are. And from wherever we’re working, our team is growing together.

Having experienced this mindset firsthand, I’m excited to carry it forward as I take the next step in my PR career, seeking opportunities to grow, contribute meaningfully, and stay curious every step of the way.
