Are you looking for an internship that goes beyond morning coffee runs and basic office work? The Nuffer, Smith, Tucker internship program provides young professionals a hands-on opportunity to learn the fundamentals of the public relations industry.
Part of the Team
As an intern at NST, I am immersed in the company culture as if I am a full-time employee. Starting with my very first weekly Monday morning staff meeting, I received a warm welcome from the team and began learning about all the projects the team had on their plates.
Within my first week I dove into in-depth writing and media relations workshops lead by fellow team members. These workshops are required for each new hire, regardless of title, to learn best practices that NST finds vital to conducting business.
By taking the time to familiarize myself with NST protocol through these one-on-one workshops, I was set up for success on future assignments. I now had a solid foundation to tackle assignments as my to-do list started to fill up.
What to Expect
Each day is different from the next at NST, making my time well spent. Assignments handed my way aligned with various aspects of PR, giving me exposure to new types of work and room to grow.

- Drafting press releases
- Drafting media pitches

- Media monitoring
- Creating media lists
- Editing client specific material
- Conducting community and government outreach
A Little Bit of Everything
As an intern, I am able to dip my toes in each account. Learning about various client gives me a unique perspective on how different industries navigate public relations.
Every day, I work with a range of NST team members as each assignment comes in. Throughout each assignment, team members gladly take the time to let me pick their brain on their area of expertise. Collaboration encompasses the NST experience.
Mentorship
Along with being handed work that is applicable to different areas of the public relations field, as an intern it is invaluable to ask questions and receive feedback on a regular basis. At NST, I am designated a buddy who is there for exactly that. Whether it be a technical question or wondering if you can wear jeans on casual Fridays, your NST buddy is prepared to answer it all.
Trial and error are expected and my NST buddy provides guidance for me to grow from my weaknesses. Having this mentorship clears up confusion and minimizes any time I may be twiddling my thumbs stumped on what step to take next.
Company Culture
NST is comprised of determined individuals who make a point to get things done but also stay up-to-date on what is going on in each other’s lives. The comradery between team members motivates me to make the most out of my time at the office each day.
The internship program at NST fully delivers a well-rounded experience to add to my professional journey.
