Vanessa Rock is an account executive who launched her career in public relations when she started a podcast at San Diego State University and quickly learned the power of cultivating a good story. She has also discovered her passion for everything media relations and the influence of a strong pitch. In her current role, Vanessa works with several NST clients to develop media partnerships, secure earned opportunities, and create long-term relationships with local and national media. She also loves a good viral moment!

What’s your favorite tool in the toolbox?
As a former collegiate speech and debate nerd, I have an arsenal of public speaking skills at the ready. Whether presenting to a client or sharing in meetings, those skills always come in handy.
What have you learned so far in your career?
Relationships are everything! From peers to members of the media, the more you can connect with people throughout your life, the more success and fulfillment will come your way.
What’s your proudest PR moment?
I love a good viral moment! One example I am proud of was working with WD-40 Brand to create a response to a MSCHF drop of a cologne that “smells like WD-40."
Where can we find you outside of work?
You can find me visiting my parents and their Springer Spaniel “Sir. Buddy Boy,” sipping on a good Hazy at a brewery or on a hot girl walk by the bay.
