Point Loma Nazarene University Advisory Council


Nuffer, Smith, Tucker helped develop and implement a planning process to meet Point Loma Nazarene University’s goal of strengthening its ties with the neighbors in its surrounding community, as well as the broader San Diego civic, business, educational and service communities.

During a five-month span, NST worked with key executives of Point Loma Nazarene University to strategically re-examine that college’s mission, vision, values, areas of emphasis/challenges/opportunities, positive and negative driving forces, and other elements of influence. NST also conducted research among key stakeholders to determine what the movement should look like and accomplish.

One of the outcomes of the branding process was the development of a President’s Community Council to act as a liaison between the community and the university, which would help the organization engage the community in which it resides. The council would act as a circle of friends who could help foster the understanding of the mission and values of the university, as well as become an external champion for its vision.


The university created the President’s Community Advisory Council comprised of 15 top civic, community leaders and philanthropists

The development of council created increased awareness of the university among community members.

The council meets quarterly and produced a profound improvement in Point Loma Nazarene University’s community impact and influence.
