The San Diego Social Media Symposium To Help Attendees Navigate Social Media Space

Peter Shankman, Author and Leader in Social Media, Will Serve as Keynote

As companies struggle with how to best use the various social media technologies, the second San Diego Social Media Symposium will provide the opportunity to discuss where social media is today and where it is going.

The San Diego Social Media Symposium – presented by Nuffer, Smith, Tucker and San Diego State University’s Digital & Social Media Collaborative – is designed to help attendees learn to listen to the social media dialogue, engage audiences in conversations and energize their most loyal fans. The symposium will be held Friday, Jan. 28, 2011, at San Diego State University’s Parma Payne Goodall Alumni Center.

Peter Shankman, the founder of Help A Reporter Out and a well-recognized leader in the social media space, will deliver the symposium’s keynote address. An entrepreneur, author, speaker and worldwide connector, Shankman is recognized for radical new ways of thinking about social media, public relations, marketing, advertising, creativity and customer service.

The one-day symposium will also feature four panels and a working lunch at which attendees will be able to discuss a wide range of social media topics. Panelists include representatives from the San Diego Chargers, San Diego Zoo, Sharp HealthCare, Pechanga, Life Technologies, Stone Brewing Co., Specialty Produce, San Diego Symphony and the San Diego MOMfia.

Panel topics include:
* How to Identify and Energize Your Most Loyal Fans
* Beyond “Listening”: Using Social Media to Make Real Changes to Your Business
* Social Media Case Studies: What Worked, What Didn’t
* What’s Next in Social Media – From New Technologies to New Trends

“The San Diego Social Media Symposium isn’t just about discussing the current trends and technologies,” said Bill Trumpfheller, president of Nuffer, Smith, Tucker. “While the current state of social media will be addressed, we’ve designed this event as a catalyst to create conversations around emerging trends, platforms and up-and-coming technologies. Through the interactive sessions and working lunch, attendees will have optimal time to share ideas and discuss strategy.”

Attendees who register by Dec. 31, 2010, will receive the early bird discount of $99 per person; starting Jan. 1, 2011, ticket prices will be $129 per person. PR Newswire, WestGlen and are sponsoring the event. Visit for more information, the complete agenda and to register.
