The Dream of the ‘90s is Alive in GeoCities?

bank of america‘90s websites … pause to shudder.

Let’s face it, the ‘90s were painful for many reasons, (doubled-up tube socks, scrunchies, hammer pants, dial-up Internet, etc.) and web design and development were not exempt. It’s difficult to imagine that just a mere 15 years ago it was hard to avoid a website littered with sparkly fonts, scrolling text, animated gifs and auto-starting sound clips. I think it’s safe to say that advancements in CSS, HTML5, media queries, responsive design and jQuery have made the overall browsing experience much more serene.

However, there was something quaint, and dare I say cute, about those websites of old. Business Insider recently highlighted some company web presences back in the early days of the World Wide Web. Enjoy the nostalgia and long live GeoCities!
