Industry buzz and Facebook sources predict the page width of custom Facebook pages will soon be much narrower – making new pages only two-thirds what they once were – to allow for additional ad space in the right margin area. Technically, tabs will be reduced from 760 pixels to 520 pixels wide. On the right is a visual so you can see the drastic change:
Rumor has it, these changes could happen in late July, and Facebook will give page administrators a whopping two weeks notice to make changes. If changes aren’t made, all wide pages will be cut off at the 520-pixel width, cutting off information and graphics. Any buttons or links in this area will no longer be functional or visible.
So, what does this mean for you? If you have a custom Facebook page, you need to begin redesigning your current pages to the new width and have them ready to roll out around the time the announcement is made.
