There was a lot of controversy over the GoDaddy television ad for the big game, which had unprotected dogs in the back of a truck, with one bouncing out and heroically making it home, only to be sold on a GoDaddy-powered website. The ad immediately created a firestorm on social media sites via the hashtag #GoDaddyPuppy after what was perceived as a puppy mill joke. GoDaddy has since pulled the ad, but not before receiving a tsunami of bad publicity. Another example of a brand being tone-deaf in the hopes of attention.
