World Famous San Diego Zoo Marketing Communications Campaigns

Challenge:

The 100-acre World Famous San Diego Zoo is home to more than 3,700 rare and endangered animals representing more than 650 species and subspecies, and a prominent botanical collection with more than 700,000 exotic plants. With 5 million visitors each year, the San Diego Zoo is one of Southern California’s most renowned tourist destinations.

On multiple occasions, the zoo team turned to Nuffer, Smith, Tucker to spearhead marketing campaigns for special events and exhibitions. NST assisted with the celebration of the birthday for Hua Mei, a baby panda who became one year old in 2001. The zoo also requested NST’s assistance with promotional efforts for educational programs for students, and seasonal promotions, such as Nighttime Zoo, pandas visiting from China and pandas born as part of the Zoo’s global breeding network.

Results:

Secured coverage with The Today Show, Good Morning America, and local media outlets about the first birthday for a baby panda at the zoo.

Developed content and graphics for camp registration forms for the San Diego Zoo and Safari Park.

Partnered with a local advertising firm for panda and Nighttime Zoo promotions.
