NST’s Long-Standing Collaboration with San Diego State University

Challenge:

NST has worked with San Diego State University on a variety of branding, marketing and public relations projects since the mid-1990s. After successfully helping launch the 100th Anniversary Centennial Celebration for SDSU, NST was hired to revamp the communication and brand positioning efforts for the university.

Using the Centennial Celebration as a vehicle for the new communications and branding platform, NST was part of the team that created a new tagline for the university, updated the format of the university magazine and implemented new online strategies.

To rally ongoing media partnerships and community support after the Centennial Celebration, NST helped institute SDSU Month. SDSU Month is a month-long celebration of SDSU’s connection and involvement within the San Diego region and includes special events on campus and in the community.

NST also created the strategic plan for several alumni outreach programs. As a member of the Campanile Foundation Board, NST President Bill Trumpfheller helped develop a brand positioning strategy for the university’s first comprehensive fundraising campaign. Trumpfheller also served as the head of a committee that created the positioning for the fundraising campaign for the new Parma Payne Goodall Alumni Center, which celebrated its grand opening in October 2009.
