Arthritis Foundation San Diego Area Chapter

Challenge:

Arthritis affects more than 700,000 people in the San Diego region. Increasing awareness about the disease is a fundamental part of targeting potential donors to ensure adequate support for the core mission is sustained. The Arthritis Foundation San Diego sought Nuffer, Smith, Tucker’s assistance to revitalize their marketing communications strategy, improve their organization’s brand with donors, assist with special event planning and execute media outreach efforts.

NST conducted a comprehensive communications audit for the organization, examining the organization’s electronic media assets, educational brochures, donor packets, special event marketing materials and newsletters. NST recommended an overhaul of communications materials to provide a more focused, uniformed structure to the messaging, along with specific messaging catering to current and prospective donors.

NST’s primary recommendation was to create a new marketing piece tailored to current and prospective donors with messaging emphasizing the impact arthritis has on the San Diego community, including people of all ages, ethnicities and backgrounds. The brochure also told the story of the disease and provided calls to action to let readers know how they can help.

Results:

Created a flagship organizational brochure catering to current and prospective donors.

Established a young adult networking group to engage younger donors.

Implemented annual public relations plans.

Designed and generated copy for the organization’s e-newsletter and website updates.
